Job Description

The Senior Reliability Engineer will support the MacKay River Facility (MRCP) for mechanical, electrical and instrumentation assets such as pumps, compressors, burners, furnaces, motors, meters, valves, seals, etc. The primary focus will be on enhancing the availability and reliability of assets, implementation of maintenance strategies and plans, implementation of reliability and maintenance best practices, maintenance and reliability reporting with collaboration with Operations stakeholders.

This role requires a highly professional and personable individual who demonstrates strong business judgment and can network, communicate, organize, and work in a busy environment with multiple stakeholders. This position will report to the Maintenance and Reliability Superintendent.


Working Conditions

  • This position is a "Fly in/Fly out" rotation based in Fort McMurray.


Responsibilities

· Define and implement maintenance strategies to prevent or detect the onset of asset failures.

· Develop technical specifications for maintenance repairs and replacements.

· Troubleshooting of assets not meeting performance requirements

· Helps establish good maintenance practices and provides technical assistance to the maintenance and operations teams.

· Provide technical input for planning work packages and task lists as required.

· Ensure failure elimination techniques such as root cause failure analysis are utilized to prevent repeat failures and enhance asset availability.

· Support and enhance predictive condition monitoring to proactively identify potential reliability issues.

· Utilize Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) techniques to enhance effectiveness of proactive maintenance.

· Provide recommendations for asset upgrades using life cycle costing.

· Support the implementation of new technology to enhance asset availability and reliability.

· Develops and implements Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reports that promote asset availability and reliability.

· Frequent tours of field sites to ensure the standards for reliability, quality, safety, procedure use, and cleanliness are maintained.

· Communicate and report on any known defects or imminent failures of critical equipment, include details of defect, estimated time to failure and provide updates.


Qualifications

· Minimum 15 years of related maintenance and industrial experience with rotating and stationary assets

· Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent Engineering bachelor’s degree or Engineering Technical Diploma from an accredited institution.

· Professional Engineer (APEGA or APEGS) or Engineering Technologist (ASET) is required.

· Working experience and training of condition monitoring techniques such as vibration, thermography, airborne ultrasound & oil analysis

· Working experience and training using Reliability software and Reliability statistics

· Working experience and training using Computerized Maintenance Management System such as SAP

· Working experience developing maintenance strategies and plans

· Experience in failure elimination techniques such as root cause failure analysis

· Experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance

· Experience in development of maintenance standards, policies, and strategies

· Working knowledge of applicable jurisdictional regulations, codes, and standards (ASME, API, AER, CSA) is required.

· Knowledge and experience with safe work practices in oil and gas production accompanied by a superior safety attitude is required.

· Experience with equipment related to steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) will be considered an asset.

- Mandarin speaking is an asset.
